Kasai makes premium Japanese konro grills for people who want more from outdoor cooking. Propaganda brought us in to create a 40 second brand film and additional assets to show the limitless possibilities of the Kasai konro grill. The creative called for a run of summer outdoor settings, including gardens and beaches - in a shoot scheduled for December! We made it all happen in our Leeds studio with hybrid Virtual Production, using the VP wall for outdoor environment plates, followed by AI post-production workflows for background replacements and extra b-roll generation. One production, everything covered - without leaving the studio.
The brief asked for summer outdoor settings. Lush gardens. Pristine beaches. None of them available in wintery Leeds, and none of them guaranteed in a Yorkshire summer either. We built every environment on the LED volume using a mix of neutral and AI generated backdrops, shooting across two days. Summer, delivered in December.
Garden through one setup, beach through the next, golden hour rolled in for the close of the day. The grills, the chefs, the prep, all in the kind of clean controlled light that premium product work needs, and all with no weather delays, no location travel, and every minute spent shooting on set. Instead of spending time chasing conditions, we could focus on what mattered: the craft, the heat, the texture, the ingredients, and the versatility of the grill itself.

We created an energetic edit that leans on the rhythm of cooking. Fast, textured, driven by the SFX as much as the music, it pulled all of the environments together with footage further enhanced through AI workflows. Neutral backgrounds were swapped for alternate environments, and new shots were weaved into the mix without a reshoot. Stills were pulled directly out of the motion footage, so the full library landed at the same time as the film.
The AI pipeline also gave Kasai something that outlasts the campaign: a branded dataset built from their own footage. With the possibility of swapping out environments and creating new material at any time, this extends the lifespan of every asset without going back to the studio, meaning Kasai now also has a branded dataset ready to power future content.
